Hugo & Circuit tussle

Cheney adopted two cats from the Greenhill Humane Society last fall. The two have gotten to know each other quite well and frequently tussle together. They also groom each other between skirmishes. Here they are distracted by my taking their photo after they have been grooming each other.

After winter comes spring.

As Daylight Savings time arrives, I remember how spring will look and marvel at the way nature revives itself every spring. I, too, will revive I am sure. The dark days of winter will be replaced by the bright days of spring. So, too, will our political climate change. We will see a better day. The darkness and death brought by our "current occupant" will end and a new day of hope will arrive.

Cheney and Ariana -- best friends

When Cheney lived in Lakeport she had a best friend named Ariana. This photo was taken when they were in middle school -- a Seventh Day Adventist School. They spent hours after school each day on the telephone, reliving every moment of their mutual existence. They are still friends today--only they communicate by letter and e-mail--no longer by telephone--while Cheney is away at a girls' boarding school.

Cheney and friend act in Romeo and Juliet

Cheney and her classmates at the Sisters Academy are reading Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. This photo shows Cheney and one of her classmates acting out a scene in class. Cheney is playing the part of Mercutio, a kinsman to the prince of Verona (Escalus) and a friend to Romeo.

Kedda again

I called Carl (also known as Phil or Kedda) to let him know about my blog and, also, about Linn's and Ida's blogs. In the event that he takes a look at my blog, I am posting some more photos from his youth.

Another photo for Kedda

Before Phil (Kedda) left to go live with Dad in Susanville he helped his two brothers in lots of dramatic play. Here we look out from a "tee-pee" that he showed us how to build.

Kedda at Philbrick Ranch

I talked with Carl today about this blog. I decided it might be good to post something in his past that he might remember. This photo was taken in the front yard of our cabin on the Philbrick Ranch. Carl (Phil or Kedda--as I called him) was always in charge and he kept his two brothers busy with projects. One I well remember is when I was convinced to climb up to the top of a redwood tree while Kedda and Pin (otherwise known as Linn) chopped it down, letting me have an exciting ride as the tree fell and bounced several times on its branches.
