The Mendocino Coast

During Cheney's attendance at Westlake School she attended a week-long science camp in the spring of 2004 on the Little River in Mendocino. While she was there, I stayed at a motel in Fort Bragg and spent my days visiting Comptche and other places I had known a a child when my father was a minister of the Baptist Church in Fort Bragg and, later, when my mother and my two brothers lived on the Philbrick Ranch near Comptche.
The picture shown here was taken late one afternoon when I drove down to Cheney's camp to have dinner with her and some of her fellow campers.

This photo was taken near Comptche, California, where Phil, Linn and I lived in the early 1930's. We lived in an old logging camp cook house on the Philbrick Ranch. We all loved living there. The ranch was near the south fork of the Little River in Mendocino.

Blessing the animals

Today, Sunday, we went to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Eugene and met the new minister. She just arrived from Massachusetts and will begin her Sunday services in September. Today was a special service to honor our pets. There were many dogs, a few cats, a rabbit, and several other small pets. It was fun to see all the animals in church.
